What does Greening your home entitle you to do? Sure you can put plants
in your home, but that is not all that you can do. Greening your
home means reducing the amount of toxins in your indoor home environment.
The smog in our home we inhale each day is becoming almost as much
a health threat as smog from rush hour traffic, according to
the California Environmental Protection Agency. Some studies show that
women who clean have a higher incidence of asthma and other respiratory
ailments than women who do not clean for a living.
If not enough fresh air enters a home, pollutants can build up and cause health and comfort problems. While it is good to make a home airtight to reduce leaks that increase energy costs, a tight house without a way for fresh air to enter may have higher levels of pollution than other homes. Since we spend, on average, about 80% of our time indoors, it makes sense to keep the air healthy.
